Where We Come From: Shaffer's Cakes Owner
From the earliest part of my life that I can remember, I was sitting in piles of flour stamping out Christmas cookies with my family during the cold winters of Northwestern Pennsylvania.

I went on from high school to IUP Academy of Culinary Arts, where I completed two degrees: culinary arts as well as baking and pastry arts. From there, my husband and I moved from Pennsylvania to Charleston, South Carolina. There, I completed my schooling with an internship at Kiawah Island Golf Resort. I accepted a full-time position there to continue working as a pastry cook at Jasmine Porch at the Sanctuary Hotel. I ran pastry operations for the restaurant as well as the hotel's lobby bar and in room dining (room service).

My husband and I got married in May of 2019 on the beaches of Pawley's Island, a small town just south of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

My husband switched careers and started with a vacation company. I followed shortly behind him, looking to get out of the busy hustle and bustle of a kitchen for a while.
Then our journey took a turn and we picked up and moved to one of the biggest cities in the country, Phoenix, Arizona. We spent about a year there, before we moved back to my hometown of Greenville, Pennsylvania. In the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, I worked at a retail bakery, where I started as a cake decorator, but then took on more roles, eventually moving into an interim bakery manager position. Then, once again, we picked up and moved again, to an even bigger city: Dallas, Texas. This is where we are hoping to stay, but we are definitely here for a while!

I took a big leap of faith starting this business and hopefully I succeed! It is really one of my biggest dreams to have my own business where I can do what I love most. I take pride in my work and everything I do is custom-made and personalized to your desires.

Bear with me as I follow my dream and get settled into being a business owner and manager. I'm ready to take on big tasks and do big things with this. Please allow me to show you what I'm made of and what I can do.

Follow me on my next big adventure and much love to all for your continued support!
